Today our little Theo turned 3 years old!
We had a fun little party for him and all the ayahs and children from downstairs came up to help us celebrate this very special boy (and of course to help with the chocolate cake as well)!
Theo has also received 2 very incredible birthday presents!
The first came a few weeks ago. You may remember the post I wrote about Theo's cochlear implant surgery and the $11,000 we needed to raise to fund it (if not you can read it here). Well, not much had come in and we were a little discouraged but still praying and trusting that God would provide.
Then we heard from a friend of SCH that a different hospital in the city (the one that earlier refused to work with Nolan) was sponsoring some CIs for kids who couldn't afford it. We weren't too optimistic after what had happened with Nolan but thought we'd give it a shot and go meet with the ENT. Even if they would only cover certain things it would be a huge help. People all around the world were praying for Theo and for the funding to come in. We knew we needed a miracle.
And that's just what we got.
The ENT not only agreed to work with Theo but also said that the ENTIRE cost would be covered. The implant, surgery, hospitalization, and a year of therapy. ALL covered. No cost coming out of our pockets. We couldn't believe it!
Then, as we were wondering what to do with the funds, one of the SCH babies, Michele had to have emergency surgery and there was no time to fund raise. So to all of you that gave towards Theo's implant: Thank you for letting God use you to provide for one of His daughters before any of us even knew it was a need.
God does indeed work miracles!
Theo's surgery had to be postponed as he had a fungus on his head that needed to clear up first. It is now gone and the surgery is scheduled for May 15th! Unfortunately, I will be on a plane at that point but it's the earliest they could get him in :( Now I'll just spend my flight praying for my boy!
If that weren't enough, for a second present he was accepted into the school that Lily goes to! He will start with the new school year, in June!
